Millions of Australians are thought to be impacted by an outage at Vodafone, one of the nation’s largest mobile networks.Â
’We are aware that some customers are experiencing intermittent issues with Vodafone mobile services and we are urgently investigating,’ the telco said in a statement on Thursday morning.
’We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We will provide an update as soon as possible.
’We recommend customers to power cycle their device to restore services.’
Outage-tracking website Downdetector had received tens of thousands of reports of problems with Vodafone services before 10am.Â
Australians in cities across the country took to Reddit to report issues with the network.
’Walking around Melbourne’s CBD trying to get on any free WiFi,’ one user said, while another added:Â 'Same here in Adelaide. Missus and mine are both SOS only.’
’Was going a bit mad thinking my phone settings were playing up,’ a third said.Â

The network status checker page on Vodafone's website displayed an error message early on Thursday morning.
Just after 11am, the telco issued an update and said the issue has been isolated and resolved, with services being progressively restored.
’The disruption was caused by an outage at one of our network hubs at around 8am,’ the statement said.Â
’Most services have now been restored, however some may continue to experience intermittent issues as devices reconnect.
’Customers who could not access the Vodafone network should have been able to access Triple Zero by connecting to other available mobile networks during this time.’
Vodafone is Australia’s third largest operator, after Telstra and Optus, and provided services to 5.4 million people across the country as of February 2025.
