Labor could deprive millions of Britons of the opportunity to vote by canceling more elections next year, a pollster warned last night. Concerns about a potential electoral defeat in May are now influencing the Labour Party’s decisions, potentially leading to delays in future polls, according to Lord Hayward. He predicts that Reform UK will see the most significant gains, while Labour is expected to suffer losses, putting more pressure on the Prime Minister. Lord Hayward also mentioned that Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch’s position appears secure.

The fear of electoral wipeout has already led to the postponement of mayoral elections in several regions until 2028, with millions of voters in other areas facing potential delays until 2027. The government has asked numerous district and county councils if they wish to postpone elections scheduled for May 2026.

Reform leader Nigel Farage criticized the Prime Minister for turning Britain into a „banana republic.” On the other hand, Labour attributed the delays to the need for local councils to merge into unitary authorities as part of their plans.
